Agenda

This is the ever evolving agenda for Open Everything Hollyhock. It's still open for input-- both here on the wiki and in real time at the event.

How to post to this wiki...

Wednesday, September 3

Wednesday is mostly a travel day. Aim to get to Hollyhock by late afternoon so you can get to know the place, join us for dinner and participate in the opening evening session.

All afternoon - We'll be there to welcome you and help you get settled into the Hollyhock groove.

630pm - Dinner - Your first chance to have amazing, organic, local, prepared-with-love food from Hollyhock. If you want wine with dinner, bring it along.

745pm - Hollyhock Orientation - Intro to how things work at Hollyhock facility-wise if you haven't been there before. Learn about food, massage, hot tubs, kayaking, session houses and internet access.

800pm - Evening Session - What's Open? - Get to know your fellow participants and tell them why you are passionate about all (or some) things open. (Mark Surman, Julia Watson and Joel Solomon)

Friday, September 5

600am - Meditation (optional)

645am - Morning Row (optional)

700am - Yoga (optional)

830am - Breakfast

930am - Opening Circle - Check in and roadmap the day

945am - Open Leadership - Leading open projects is often a fine balance between extreme idealism and extreme practicality. Executive coach Jeff Balin leads a session on how to strike this balance as a leader, facilitator or contributor to an open project. (Jeff Balin)

1115am - Break

1130am - Open Session - Project and Concept Feedback
- Sign up to present your big idea or project, and then get constructive feedback from others. A great chance to share what you are doing AND make it better. Example #1: Mozilla's Zak Greant has offered to deliver a tightened up version of The Age of Literate Machines and then will ask for others for ideas on how to improve it. Example #2: Paul Biondich will ask for ideas on how to best structure and sustain the Open Medical Record System project as it grows. Example #3 - Your project!

1230pm - Lunch

200pm - Open Outputs (Allen Gunn and Mark Surman)

315pm - Break

345pm - Personal Board of Directors - This is a chance for each Open Everything participant to bring their organizational or career challenges to an informal forum of experts: (you) and your peers. The structure requires strong facilitation and starts with a round table for each participant to lay out their challenges. 3-4 people will then be chosen in each group to receive 15 minutes of clarifying questions and then directed feedback on their issues.  Works best sitting on a log on the beach. Not to be missed!

445pm - Closing Circle - Check in, discuss what topics we have not yet addressed, and map out the agenda for making the most of our final morning.

600pm - Oyster BBQ (optional)

630pm - Dinner

730pm - Bioluminescence Paddle (optional)

800pm - Renewal Blow-out Bluff House party - DJ - Dr. Wrightgeous  (Steve Wright),  the music I like and Takin' it Holme (Holmes Wilson) are going to rock the party.

Saturday, September 6

600am - Meditation (optional)

700am - Yoga (optional)

830am - Breakfast

930am - Opening Circle - Check in and road map the da.

1000am - Bringing it all back home - In this final session, we'll reflect on essential questions for moving forward:

  • What are you going to do next?
  • What do you need from others?
  • What story do we want to tell the world about what we discussed?
We'll map out an agenda on these things Friday at the end of the day, and then dig deep into them on Saturday.

1130am - Closing Circle and Farewells - Talk about what's next and say goodbye

1230pm - Lunch and departures
